Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about levels, access, and how the read-along works.

What is reading while listening?

You read a book's text while hearing it narrated, with the spoken word highlighted in time. It pairs the sound and spelling of each word and keeps you moving at a natural pace — a well-studied way to build vocabulary and listening.

Which level should I choose?

Pick the CEFR level closest to yours, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (near-native). The reader only flags words above your level, so a higher level flags fewer words. You can change it any time from inside the reader.

How much does it cost?

Right now the whole library is open and free — just pick a book and press play.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in your web browser on a phone, tablet, or computer.

Are the books legal to use?

Yes. Every title is a public-domain classic whose copyright has expired, so it can be shared and narrated freely.

How do you decide which words to explain?

Every word is graded to the CEFR scale. We only flag the ones above your chosen level, so you focus on what's genuinely new for you.

Can I hear how a word is pronounced?

Yes. Tap a highlighted word and press play in the popup to hear it, alongside its phonetic spelling.
